If you will be flying to the conference in Baltimore, there are a number of airport options. The closest airport is Baltimore Washington International/Thurgood Marshall (BWI), which is about 12 miles from the Lord Baltimore Hotel. BWI is a large hub for Southwest Airlines, which may be your cheapest option. You could also choose Reagan National (DCA) in Washington DC, which is about 40 miles from the hotel or an hour drive. Depending on the price of the flight, you may also wish to look into Philadelphia International (PHL), which is about 90 miles and 1 ½ hours from the hotel. International flights will often arrive at Dulles International (IAD)—60 miles or an hour from the hotel—or Newark Liberty International (ERW)—180 miles or 2 hours 45 minutes from the hotel (International visitors arriving at Newark may want to look into a connecting flight to BWI or DCA to avoid the long drive). Information about each airport is below:
Baltimore Washington International (BWI)—options for traveling to the Lord Baltimore Hotel:
--car rental: BWI has a spacious, rental car facility providing one-stop rental car shopping. Free shuttle service carries customers to and from the airport approximately every 10 minutes. Passengers arriving on flights should take the free shuttle from the lower level terminal for a ten-minute ride to the new facility.
--by taxi: Taxi stands are found outside of baggage claim on the lower level of the airport. A taxi ride is about 30 minutes and should cost about $35.00. BWI Airport Taxi is the exclusive taxi service. Many of their cars are equipped for wheelchairs. If you would like to request a wheelchair van, please contact them in advance at 410.859.1100. They also have service desks in the airport at Pier A and Pier D. For more info, please visit. http://www.bwiairporttaxi.com
--by rail: The BWI Light Rail station is located outside the lower lever of the building at Concourse E. You will want to take a train going north to Hunt Valley. Exit the train at the “University Center-Baltimore Street” stop. You will then walk 3 blocks to the right (east) on Baltimore Street to the hotel. The Light Rail operates M-F 5a to 11p, Saturday 6a to 11p, and Sunday 11a to 7p. Cost is about $2.00 one way and it is about a 40 minute trip. (I would not recommend doing this walk from the Light Rail Station after dark as Baltimore Street is not well lit in that part of the city) https://mta.maryland.gov/light-rail
