The 11th annual 1p36 Deletion Support and Awareness conference will be held in Historic Baltimore, MD on Thursday August 3rd through Saturday August 5th, 2017. The conference will be held at the Beautiful Lord Baltimore hotel. For hotel reservation information please click here. For more detailed travel information for the conference you can go to the Travel Page.
The 1p36 DSA annual conference is a wonderful opportunity to meet other 1p36 families and the 1p36 community as well as learn more about the syndrome and other topics of interest. We promise a fun weekend of information and outings, learning, and love. Even though many resources today can be accessed online, nothing can replace the experience of meeting face-to-face with experts and spending time developing lasting relationships with other parents, attendees and all of us at 1p36 DSA. To see a more detailed tentative schedule please click here.
If you have attended previous conferences, we look forward to seeing you again and picking up where we left off. If you have a loved one or family member with 1p36 Deletion Syndrome and just want to learn more, we would love to see you. If you have a loved one that has passed but want to come see your 1p36 family we want you to come. If you are newly diagnosed or have never been to a conference, we look forward to meeting you, your family, and your 1p36er. We promise you will learn important information and make friendships that will last a lifetime.
Registration rates for the conference are $70 for attendees 12 and older and $50 for attendees age 2-11. Attendees aged 0-1 are free and as always any individuals with 1p36 Deletion Syndrome are free.
The registration fee covers:
- Conference attendance and materials
- Lunch for attendees age 2 and up on Friday and Saturday
- Breakfast for attendees 2 and up Friday and Saturday
- Conference T-shirt for attendees 2 and up (all attendees with 1p36 DS will receive a shirt regardless of age)
We will be several blocks from the Inner Harbor tourist district. It will be a short walk to catch an Orioles game at Camden Yards, check out Ravens stadium, paddle a dragon boat, or tour Harborplace attractions like The National Aquarium, the Science Center, the Constellation, or Ripley’s Believe it or Not. A tiny bit further afield is Fort McHenry, where the Star Spangled Banner was born, or the historic neighborhoods of Federal Hill, Canton, and Fell’s Point--each with their own unique sights and shops and restaurants.
If you need a day trip, check out the history and monuments of Washington, DC less than an hour to the south, or Philadelphia 2 hours to the north. The beautiful town of Annapolis and the Naval Academy are close by as are the Civil War battlefields in Antietam, MD, Gettysburg, PA and Fredericksburg in VA.
